Ergonomics

Ergonomics ensure that work can be carried out with maximum comfort, safety and efficacy to prevent the onset or worsening of health problems.

In a rehabilitation context, this service assesses the compatibility between the worker’s functional limitations and the job demands, with the goal of modifying work methods or the job itself, if necessary. It can also identify another suitable position within the organization for the individual and their limitations.

Optima Global Health professionals can provide a wealth of good and practical advice to improve ergonomics-related practices.

Prevention

Ergonomics services are required mostly for musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). Fortunately, the majority of risk factors that cause these disorders are modifiable:

  • Repetition
  • Length
  • Recovery time
  • Effort
  • Inadequate working methods and postures

A suitable arrangement of the workstation and use of appropriate work methods will promote healing and prevention of headaches, backaches, eye strain, shoulder and neck pain, as well as repetitive strain injuries or musculoskeletal disorders.

Rehabilitation

Optima Global Health facilitates recovery of workers when they are impacted by an ergonomic problem, whether it is in an office or physical work setting. In order to achieve this, a specialist will travel to the workplace to:

  • Assess an individual’s condition
  • Take anthropometric measurements
  • Take workstation measurements
  • Make adjustments based on the pathology and measurements

Afterwards, a treatment plan is developed to facilitate the return to work and reduce the risk of relapse.
